Homar Gómez was born and raised in Puerto Rico with his two siblings .   His parents still reside in Puerto Rico where his father is a Vietnam Naval Veteran and was a salesman for twenty plus years and his mother has been a business owner for more than 30 years, a business in which Homar has been an essential part  for the past 20 years.  Growing up in a middle class/lower income household he understood the need for a good education and rights for all people.  Striving for a better life for his family, his wife Sindy and their two daughters at the time , Sidney and Jacqueline moved to Massachusetts in 1997 and later welcomed their third daughter Natalie, who was born in Northampton.

In 2007 Homar and his family settled in Easthampton. He began his volunteer involvement at Community Action Head Start and later joined the Easthampton Little League. As part of the ELL he volunteered as a softball coach while his family volunteered to run the concession stand for seven years. He accepted a job  at the Mitchell Funeral Home, where he still works.  

After volunteering he realized he wanted to continue serving the community of Easthampton in a greater capacity. So, in 2017 he ran for Easthampton City Council and was elected representing Precinct 2. In 2022 Homar became the City Council President, a title that was earned through his continued effort of listening to the community and being consistent and fair throughout his city council career. As the Easthampton City Council president, he has a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families not only by being a politician but by personal experiences which will connect him to the families in the 2nd Hampshire district.

With a deep-rooted commitment to public service and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of constituents, Homar is prepared to advocate on behalf of the diverse needs and interests of constituents and be your voice for the 2nd Hampshire District in Boston.
